A well preserved part of the so-called corridor between the Vatican and the Castle S. Angelo, where the Pope frequently took refuge from foreign Invaders or domestic insurrection. The original "corridors" were built by Alexander VI and extended and improved by later Popes. Along these "corridors" were the houses of papal executioners Iong since leveled to the ground.
