Thaddeus Brzozowski General # 19

General from 1805 to 1820

He was elected general in Poland on September 2, 1805. In 1814 when the Society was restored to the whole world a new election was unnecessary and Father Brzozowski retained the title and the office for the whole Society. He was the link which bound the two parts of the Society together.

He had been born in Poland on October 21, 1749 and entered the Society in Russia on February 2, 1784. He was a successful and well known preacher and was named Vicar General by Father Kareu in 1797. He died at the age of 71 and was buried in his native Poland.
